Year 7 & 8 Player Development Programme (PDP)

Netball Wairarapa offers a Year 7 and Year 8 Development as part of the Netball NZ's inititative. The PDP is an extension learing programme providing player the chance to develop and extend their technical, tactical and development skills as well as inspiring a lifelong love of the game. The programme has been developed as an alternative to Representative teams.

KEY INFORMATION

The Programme includes:

Physical skill and tactical development through diverse sporting approaches
Athlete development
Intergrated Neuromuscular development/improving muscle control of a growing body
Improving and progressing Netball movement skills
Stage-specific strength activities

Focus

Provide development opportunities for Year 7&8 players
Include tactical and technical development for all positions
Implement a National approach forthe development of young players
Refocus on fundamental movement skills as athletes move through puberty

Self-Assessment of Key Strengths

Players registering will be asked to identify which of the following apply to them:

A good work ethic
Executes netball skills at a good level
A high level of responsibility and self reliance
Works well in a team environment and supports others
Enjoys playing the game of netball
Is an entusiastic learner
Has a high level of commitment and dedication

Player Eligibility

Year 7&8 players must be in Year 7&8 during the 2025 school year. Players must also be registered to a Netball Wairarapa club/school

Coaches

We will be coordinating a group of suitably trained/experienced coaches and/or field experts to assist with facilitating the PDP. Developing and school coaches are welcome to attend and work alongside these coaches. It is very rewarding to work with a group of keen players and should be lots of fun!

Registration Details

Unless contacted prior about any issues with this registration, the completed registration will enable the player to take part in the programme (you will receive a confirmation email)
Registrations will open on Monday 3rd March

Fees

$130 per player for both parts (If players are only wanting to attend one part, the cost is $70)
